Are you prepared for your female to be in heat – How would you manage your female in a scenario with an unfixed male. Females let off a pheromones that can send any male in the area into a frantic need to be around your female They will need to be kept inside during this time so you can monitor them. They will also need to have a female diaper during the heat as they will bleed. If having puppies, are you prepared? Health Issues – If spaying, there are a reduction of certain health issues. Health Issues – If neutering, there are a reduction of certain health issues. Such as eliminating risk of testicular cancer and prostrate disorders but on the flip side the reduction of testosterone can lead to higher risks of other types of cancer and possible cognitive issues as your dog ages. Not to mention that neutering your male is a major surgy and there are risks with that as well.
Less marking and Aggression – Male who are neutered tend to mark less and all of our bernese and bernedoodles are meant as indoor dogs. Have a dog who marks your home can be very frustrating. In most cases, bernese and bernedoodles are not aggressive dogs. Getting your male neutered will reduce any sort of aggression they may have. This will lead to a very passive male.
